EVENT INFORMATION

The Southeast Symphony celebrates its final concert of the 2017-18 season with what it considers the greatest undertaking in its 70-year history.
“Revolution/Resurrection,” will be performed at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at UCLA’S Royce Hall. Tickets are $35 general admission orchestra or balcony ($25 for students and seniors), $65 premiere orchestra or premiere balcony (includes reception) and $125 VIP, all available through www.southeastsymphony.com and by calling the Royce Hall ticket office at (310) 825-2101.
Under the baton of Music Director Anthony Parnther, the concert is an American retrospective as well as a compelling narrative about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his influence on 20th century America. The concert explores how the Negro Spiritual, born out of tragedy of slavery, evolved into the powerful anthems of the Civil Rights movement. Selections include the U.S debut of Errollyn Wallen’s “Concerto Grosso,” selections from Mahler’s Second Symphony and traditional spirituals. Guest performers are Lettrice Lawrence, Bradley Baker, Jacob Lusk, Jennifer Lindsay, Maria Dominique Lopez, contrabass virtuoso Chi-chi Nwanoku and the Southeast Symphony Chorus.
Attendees will enjoy a complimentary post-concert reception provided by sponsor Urth Caffé, serving its signature heirloom and organic coffees and teas as well as a selection of its delicious desserts.
